How to trade in government bonds

Retail investors in India have so far been unable to directly participate in the Indian government bond market. But, with the Reserve Bank of India planning to roll out the red carpet soon, it’s a good idea to learn the basics.
Bond yields are a good place to start, and these are affected by numerous factors – macro-economic indicators like inflation and growth, the government’s finances like its estimated revenue and expenditure, and also capital flows. Ultimately, though, like in any other market, bonds are affected by demand and supply.
