Another great organist Gerald Shaw plays the Christie Organ in what was the Regal/ Odeon Cinema Marble Arch London. In the early 1960's. This was reputed to be the largest unit Theater/ Cinema organ ever built in the UK at some 32 ranks, I believe with a massive 4 manual console. And opened in 1928. I would have so loved to have heard this organ in this cinema. The organ was removed in around 1964 I believe and soon after the cinema was demolished. The organ is reputed to still be about and had been stored in a barn for many years in the West Country but was said to be in a bad shape this was a number of years ago now when I heard this, and I'm sure would, therefore, need much restoration at a vast cost to get it back playing. I always so admired Gerald Shaw playing style one of the true great cinema organist of that halcyon period!
