첫 번째 주제는 바로 알파폴드입니다.
작년에 있었던 단백질 구조 예측 경연인 CASP14에서 AlphaFold 2가 또 우승했습니다.
2018년에는 2위팀이 52점이면 58점 정도를 받고 우승했는데, 이번에는 90점을 넘기면서 압도적인 1위를 해버렸죠.

Hello, I am Dae Ho Lee, and I am the Managing Partner from PI IP LAW, a patent law firm specialized in AI.

From now on we will talk about various topics on patents related to AI. The first topic is AlphaFold.

In December 2020, Google’s artificial intelligence team joined the CASP14, a sort of competition on protein structure prediction, and significantly outperformed other participants. The AI system AlphaFold proved the accuracy of their algorithm, scoring a median of 92.5 (out of 100) on their predictions which are considered on par with the accuracy of experimental methods, and earned an overwhelming first place.

But why is this important? Let us figure out what’s so significant and what its patents are about.
