Bob O’Conner presents “Mrs. Sarah Slater is the Missing Lincoln Conspirator.” She was a friend of John Surratt, Jr. and a courier for the Confederate government, delivering messages from Richmond to the Confederate Secret Service in Montreal in early 1865. She is mentioned by several witnesses in their testimony at the conspiracy trials. She was arrested, questioned, and released. She then went missing along with $649,000 of money from the bank in Montreal. Louis Weichmann, the federal government's main witness testified, "The government did its best to find out who the woman was but was unable to find her."
