Long-tail boat generally uses "direct transmission" with high horsepower engine, but to reach a required speed, it depends on 3 main factors; engine power, tail and propeller. They need to be synergized effectively, so that the loss of power from burning will reduce, or in other words, the waste of gasoline will decrease.

To be more effective, bringing "worm gear" in use without having to increase power of the engine will help save energy and also reduce air pollution from burning.
