Dock start pump foiling is about progression and with just a little relevant experience, Miki has progressed through mastering the step off the dock quickly to then take some time to work out the "recovery" phase of a dock start.

You are never going fast enough at the start so you have to work hard and pump just right to accelerate the foil up to it's glide speed. Think about the start kick off the dock as a pilot's V1 - the speed that you can proceed with take off and try to progress to V2 - the happy glide speed of a foil.

Miki's biggest challenge was working out a pump techique to get her to V2.. and once obtained, there was no stopping her.

Despite the black eye and the bruised ass, there's no stopping Mickey as she dedicated the start of her 2026 to developing her dockstar techniques. She got some bruises along the way that's for sure but there was no stopping her and with her final day in Queensland before returning to frosty Melbourne she pulled out all stops to dominate the day and by far and away get the most improved medal for the day.
