In the good old days, once the accused was caught on tape admitting to his wrong-doings, that was it.

No doubt it will claimed that the exchanges on the Anglo tapes were just alpha male banter, the bankers' version of Trump's "locker room talk" defence when he was caught on tape bragging of sexual assault.

It is estimated that the trial could go on for five months. Mr Drumm has been allocated four barristers on free legal aid for the duration. .

If the content of the Anglo Tapes are admissible, it should be done and dusted in a couple of days.

I wrote this one just after the tapes were released.
