'The International Exchange'. In lieu of the traditional Interhouse Plays, a one-act play was written by Grade 9 pupils, Julian Luiz, Lola Cardoso and Phiwe Nhlapo and was directed by a selected group of Grade 11 pupils.
The synopsis is as follows:
The year is 2020, the month is March. Numerous international exchange students from Jamaica, Ireland, Japan, America and South Africa find themselves sharing a dorm room at a South African university. It's a clash of cultures and a grave 'family meeting' is called by 'President Cyril Ramaphosa' as he announces the arrival of Covid-19 in the country. Borders are to be closed and the students are left to stick it out together. It is a play about working through differences and trying to keep one's personal lives private, in a public and unknown space. Ultimately, secrets are revealed, people's true colours shine through but in the end... well….watch it and see!
