Today on our 2016 Audi Q5 we're doing a test fit of the CURT 20 by 48 cargo carrier. That part number is C18110. Now we already have our carrier installed. This is designed to work with both 1-1/4" and 2" hitches and has a 300 pound weight capacity. Although it does have a high weight capacity, it is very lightweight so it's easy to insert and take out of your hitch. We're going to start off here with a few measurements, ground clearance being first. We're going to have about 15-1/4" added.

Ground clearance, we've got about 28" added to our vehicle and a closest point of about 8-1/4". Now as for our exhaust, we do have dual exhausts on our Audi Q5. They come straight out and even with our carrier sitting about 13-1/4" away from our carrier platform. If you have any heat-sensitive materials I'd keep that on the inside of your vehicle if possible. We're next going to check our hatch breakover point. This is going to be the point at which anything that's stacked on our carrier might make contact with our hatch door.

This is pretty important since you can tell we have this automatic hatch here. That's going to be about 25-1/4". Just keep that in mind if you have anything stacked close to or higher than that, you will need to move it off to be able to gain access into your hatch fully. As for our hitch, I did mention before that this works with both 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. We also have an anti-rattle bolt and clip down there. That is included with our carrier and it's going to keep a lot of shake and play out of the cargo carrier as we head down the road so we should have an overall smooth ride.

That's going to be our completed look at the CURT 20 by 48 cargo carrier, part number C18110, on our 2016 Audi Q5. Here on our test course we'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side to side action. This simulates turning corners or evasively maneuvering. Once we get to the alternating speed bumps, we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or a pothole, or driving over uneven pavement.

Once we get to the full speed bumps, we'll see the up and down action. This will be just like driving in and out of a parking lot, parking garage, or driveway.
