Recipe for Moon Sand:
Flour
Vegetable oil
Food Colouring (optional)

Use 8 parts flour to one part cooking oil, using any size scoop or cup. Gradually add the cooking oil and mix well, until it becomes a texture like sand! You may need to mix with your fingers. Add food colouring to the oil if you want to change the colour of the moon sand. It will last in a sealed container for up to 4 weeks. You can use a tray or put newspaper on the floor/table to make it easier to tidy away.

Recipe for Gloop:
Cornflour
Water
Food colouring (optional)

Gloop is a unique substance as it is both firm and gooey at the same time! Use one part water to 2 parts corn flour. Pour the cornflour in a bowl or tub and slowly add the water, mixing as you go. When the water is absorbed by the cornflour you have gloop - a fun texture to play with! Hold it in your hands and watch it drip through your fingers. Some children seek very messy play and will love exploring gloop! If you want to create colourful gloop, just add food colouring to the water.

Recipe for Mud:
Cocoa powder
Cornflour
Water

In a tub or bowl, combine the same amount of cocoa powder and cornflour (depending on the amount of mud you want to make). Using a jug, slowly add cold water and stir. The texture will gradually change, keep adding water until you reach the consistency you would like! If it is too dry, just add more water - if it is too wet, just add more of the cornflour/cocoa powder mix.The final video in the Ultimate Series on Play looks at 6 wonderful ideas for play with everyday items - for homes, Early Years Settings and any other location.
