Exploring an Inclined Plane near Centralia, Pa.

Описание к видео Exploring an Inclined Plane near Centralia, Pa.

I got a book on the history of Centralia called 'Images of America/ Centralia' by Deryl B. Johnson. It shows an inclined plane owned by the P&R Coal and Iron co. on Big Mine Run road in Buck's Patch (East if Centralia).

NOTE: After further research and inspection, i think this was a DECENDING plane. Loaded coal cars would decend down the plane pulling on a cable and air vane governed pulley system( resembling a large music box mechsnism) that would hoist the empty cars back up the hill alternating tracks every cycle using gravity and air velocity resistance. (No visible foundations like the Mahanoy [ACENDING] plane, only an 8'x8' concrete footer on the side of the 'hoist house' for the air vane governed 'hoisting mechanism.)12:06-13:15
The steam boiler was used for the breaker(s) nearby.
