Cabrillo Beach & Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro, Los Angeles, California with Kids

We took a trip to visit Cabrillo Beach and Cabrillo Marin Aquarium in San Pedro, Los Angeles.

First, we stopped by the pier in Cabrillo Beach, which looks out over the Port of Los Angeles where all the ships go in and out.

One side of Cabrillo Beach faces the Pacific Ocean, while the other side faces the harbor, which is where we went. There’s a playground right on the beach. The harbor side of Cabrillo Beach has a large sand area. The water is shallow and the waves are mild.

Directly across the parking lot from Cabrillo Beach is Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. Inside are many tanks full of local marine wildlife, which sparked a lot of wonder and questions from our kids.

There’s an outdoor area where we could touch some of the marine animals, such as starfish and sea anemone. There’s another building in the aquarium full of interactive learning activities for kids. When we visited, there was even a hand puppet show to watch.

With Cabrillo Beach and Cabrillo Marine Aquarium being right next to each other, it was fun spending the day in San Pedro to explore them both.
