Ad hoc designed sound architectures conveyed by hand signs: improvisation, large ensemble, instant compostion conducting. - Since 2004 the VIENNA IMPROVISERS ORCHESTRA has been, as one of the first improvisational orchestras in Europe, to continuously developing this specific form of experimental composition and complex improvised music, thus taking up a discourse on new concepts of sound organization for large ensembles of the non-notated score, which among others, was begun or developed by Bruno Maderna, Lawrence D. Butch Morris, John Zorn or the London Improvisers Orchestra.

In ever changing formations of 12 - 36 musicians, at times with choir, and, since the beginning, in cooperations with authors of experimental literature, around 300 participants have been involved within projects f.i. with the Budapest Improvisers Orchestra, LeGGRIL Quebec / CAN, with spanish expert on conducted large ensemble improvisation Josefa Alonso, for festivals, EU-project MELT or Reaktor Wien, live scoring the russian avant-garde sci-fi film Aelita (1924) with performances in places of music, the visual arts and social participatory practice.

Michael Fischer, musician-composer, has been working on the speech immanence of sounds and their dramatic evidence since the mid-'90s in the fields of free improvised and experimental music. As an instant composition conductor he has conducted numerous international improvisation orchestras, temporary large ensembles and choirs in the context of festivals, guest lectures for universities and multimedia projects in Europe, USA, Canada and Japan. In 2004 he launched the VIO.
