Powered by the Dam: EUVs Keep Dam Employees Moving

The Nation's largest dam now has the largest fleet of electric trucks. This fall, 27 electric utility vehicles will begin making tracks around Grand Coulee Dam. The Bureau of Reclamation is launching a green car pilot project to introduce low maintenance, zero emissions electric utility vehicles that cut fossil fuel costs and meet green house gas emission goals for federal agencies.

The lithium-ion battery powered Electric Utility Vehicles (EUVs) will not only promise cleaner air but also solve a chronic vehicle shortage for making short trips around the hydro power complex.

Grand Coulee spends over $100,000 on fossil fuel each year. Reclamation is expecting fossil fuel consumption could be cut by 10 to 15 percent through the use of EUVs.
