#Coonoor Town is the place where it has market place which serves to people for centuries. The altitude of Coonoor place is about 1890 Meter above m.s.l. The seasons are winter from mid November to March. citizens and visitors use thick wollen garments and blankets and for rest of the season light woollen clothing is used. The climate is moderate and there is no pollution, much mosquitoes. It has the such a climate that one can live with wearing a light clothes and with coat and tie.

The town market and shops serves people in purchasing all needs in grocery, and building materials etc. The century old Non Vegitable items like fish mutton beef pork stalls are available in the market place. The Govt. run Liquor shops also available.

Regarding communication cell towers of all companies and fibre optical connection is also available from Telecom Department.

Nearest airport is Coimbatore and you can reach within two hours by vehicles and car and van taxi service is also available with experience drivers.


The municipality is also about 150 years old started by Britishers. Water is not contaminated and used for human consumption.

People from all over the world settled here. The Central Govt. institutions and factory functioms from a long time. Local language is Tamil and besides people use Engalish, Baduga, Kannada and Hindi. The cost of living is also notuch costly. It is a cosmopolitan place and people from various culture live here.

Coonoor has got all transport facility with buses, taxies, train etc. The NMR toy train is a Heritage status one.

The entire surrounding places are are with tea plantation. The highly grown tea leaves and the tea produced is a best grade among world teas.

Come once and enjoy the place as more seasonal guest houses, hotels have come up with different tarriff suiting all categories of visitors.

The famous botanical garden and Pasteur Institute is also in Coonoor.

Agricultural produces like tea, potatoe, other English and continental vegitables are grown here.
