How to make two Virtual Machines communicate on VMware.

A VMware LAN Segment is a private network that is shared by other virtual machines. A LAN segment can be useful for multitier testing, network performance analysis, and situations where virtual machine isolation are important.


|| Create the LAN Segments ||

With the LAN-Segment virtual machine created, we will now drill down into the properties of the virtual machine to create the LAN Segments. As alluded to earlier in this post, I prefer to create two types of VMware LAN Segments. The first is a link. Think of a simple wire or cable between two network interfaces. The second is a bridge. It represents a junction for three or more connected interfaces.

1. Click LAN-Segment in the Virtual Machine Library. This should bring it to the foreground in the main window.
2. Select Edit virtual machine settings.
3. On the Virtual Machine Settings window, select Network Adapter.
4. Click the LAN Segments button.
5. Click the Add button.
6. Enter a name (e.g., link001 or brdg001) in the blank field.
7. Repeat the two previous operations until you have the total number required.
8. Click the OK button to save the changes and close the Global LAN Segments window.
9. Click the OK button to close the Virtual Machine Settings window.
