On December 6, 2021, the Chamber’s Equality of Opportunity Initiative and Global Innovation Policy Center, in partnership with the Copyright Alliance, hosted a conversation on the importance of increasing diversity throughout the copyright arena.

Who Joined: Viewers heard from dynamic speakers that span experiences in the copyright industry – from academics to creators, and to those representing the legal profession. Among them were: Representative Sharice Davids, NBCUniversal’s Grace Wu, and Mei-lan Stark, graphic designer Yanique DaCosta and music producer Patrick Guitarboy Hayes.

Why it Matters: Copyright protection provides a way for creators to earn a living as they create the books, movies, music, works of visual art, and other creative works that document our world, tell our stories and enrich our lives. It is of vital importance that those creators and their works, which help shape our society, are representative of the rich diversity of people and communities across America.
