Buddhism the movie Selma, Black People & Bodhisattvas of of the Earth is a revolutionary lecture by Anthony "Amp" Elmore President and Founder of the "Proud Black Buddhist World Association. Elmore at the time of Lecture has been a Nichiren Buddhist for over 40 years. Elmore is the 1st African/American and perhaps the 1st Buddhist in modern times to challenge world perception of Buddhism being perceived as an oriental religion. Elmore notes that this perception comes from Asian Ethnocentrism. To put it bluntly Elmore a Nichiren Buddhist calls many of the Japanese Buddhist teachers and their systems "institutional racist."

This lecture is revolutionary in that Elmore names Dr. Martin Luther King and the brave souls who fought for freedom, justice and equality as the "True Bodhisattvas of the Earth" described in the 15th Chapter of the Lotus Sutra. In the Gosho "Attaining Buddhahood in this lifetime reads: "Therefore, such students of Buddhism are condemned as non-Buddhist. Great Concentration and Insight states that, although they study Buddhism, their views are no different from those of non-Buddhists." In this lecture Elmore challenges the racism in Buddhism and notes how SGI leader Daisaku Ikeda, Nichiren Shoshu and Nichiren Shu Buddhist sects teach a Buddhism of "Japanese Nationalism." Elmore notes that their tactics and Buddhist practices goes against the Sutras. Elmore notes that calling oneself a "Bodhisattvas does not make you a true Bodhisattva unless you act and practice like a Bodhisattvas by practicing the merits of "Freedom, Justice & Equality for all humanity." The Gosho "Three Kinds of Treasure" reads: "The purpose of the appearance in this world of Shakyamuni Buddha, the lord of teachings, lies in his behavior as a human being." Buddhism is the world's 1st egalitarian religion does not manifest itself as an egalitarian religion as noted by Elmore. Elmore ask any person who challenges his premise to find one Buddhist person of African or African/American decent who is respected as a Buddhist by the African/American community. Elmore notes that Buddhism is the father of most the world's religions but Buddhism is worldwide only as an oriental esoteric philosophy and not a vehicle for social change.

Elmore makes the case until we have "true equality" in Buddhism meaning inclusion of African and African/American culture and history Buddhism will continue to be noted only as an Asian esoteric religion and philosophy.

Elmore in this lecture notes how the Japanese Nichiren Sects discriminated against him. Elmore notes in the lecture that his background and training are from those who fought for Civil and human rights gives him the courage and background to fight for equality in the Buddhism religion that can help all mankind.
