Advanced Tune Tuesday - Clarinet Polka

Well, well, well, here’s a polka for your #2022advancedplayerschallenge tune of the week! You know I adore a polka. With all the stuff that’s going on with my hands these days I did strongly consider playing this in G but then I figured, who knows how long I’ll be able to play this one in Bb so let’s give it a go, shall we? I don’t mean to be maudlin. Nothing of the sort.

This does remind me of the time I got into a heated argument with my friend Lindsey O’Neill - we were most likely in 7th or 8th grade at the time. She played the clarinet and I played the violin and she kept trying to tell me the note she was playing was C and I, proudly (and obnoxiously) wielding my perfect pitch, kept explaining to her that it was absolutely not C and that she was the crazy one, not me. I guess no one had thought to explain the difference between Bb and concert pitch instruments to either of us and since we were both right but I was much more of a bully, I’d like to apologize to her publicly. Sorry for being a music theory nerd jerk, Lindsey.
