How to Use Weightlifting Straps

1. Slide hand inside the strap so the the eyelet is positioned at in the centre of the base of your wrist.
2. Start wrapping from the outside of the bar and work your way toward the middle
3. The strap is wrapped clockwise around the bar.

Knowing how to use weightlifting straps is as important as knowing when to use them.

Weightlifting straps will not do all the work for you.

You still need provide maximal support for the whatever is in your hands
(barbell, dumbbell). The weightlifting strap is wrapped clockwise around the bar because it is the opposite direction of how the bar will roll out of your hands if you are using both hands in a pronated grip.

You will still need use 100% of your grip strength to secure the bar - anything less will result into loss of grip and potential injury. Lifting straps are used when the weight load exceeds your ability to secure the load with your grip alone.
