This video was created several years ago when I went under the name Matt Creamer Audio. I have since rebranded to Raddland Studios to make my content easier to find.

During the development of the Blossom Tales game, I was contacted by the project manager for the game to create exclusively one track: an Overworld theme song.

There was no standing order to work on the soundtrack as a whole. Strangely, it was just this one track.

Ultimately, they went with the composer who had already done most of the soundtrack already, Visager, and my track was never used. I am actually not sure what all went down, but I suspect they just wanted to have some options available to them. Regardless, I was paid, and went on my way.

The criteria for the track was obviously Zelda 3 inspired. But they hit me with a term that I really enjoy and still use when talking with other developers for their projects. They asked me to write something that was "16bit+".

My interpretation of that was to mix various levels of retro string sounds and percussion with more realistic string sounds and percussion. So that's just what I did.

While I did not directly reference Zelda at any point in this track, I did try to remember it in my head. This was my attempt to recreate something like Zelda's theme song, but without actually getting right down to the components that actually made that original track (which is usually what I would do when given that task). Instead of it being exactly like Zelda, it is my wonky interpretation of what I think Zelda sounds like.
