The Gigantic Gujarat Refinery


MEIL is executing the key production units of Gujarat Refinery in Vadodara for the Oil and Gas entity, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. As part of Gujarat Refinery expansion, MEIL is executing the New Propylene Recovery Unit with new LPG treatment unit, mounded billets, caustic solution system and allied facilities. It is also constructing the Residue Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (RFCC), Condensate Refinery Liquid Petroleum Gas (CR LPG) Treater Unit and poly propylene units to boost the petrochemical industry in India. The propylene recovery unit extracts propylene, which is an essential component in the petrochemical industry. The RFCC unit employs a fluidized catalytic cracking process, where a fluidized catalyst reacts with the heavy oil feedstock at high temperatures and pressures, breaking down the large hydrocarbon molecules into smaller ones. CR LPG Treater unit is to remove impurities, such as sulfur compounds, mercaptans, and other contaminants, from the LPG stream.
MEIL is executing these units with modern and advanced technology to process the hydrocarbons and contributes to India’s energy growth.
