Wang Jianlin, chairman and founder of the Dalian Wanda group, is a well known real estate tycoon in China. The Chinese are all too familiar with the brand he built because of the massive Wanda Plaza commercial centers in hundreds of shopping districts nationwide. In recent years, Wanda started its shift in growth strategy as the company started a buying spree of companies around the world. Wang plans to take Wanda's focus from real estate to the service industry. By 2018, Wanda expects two-thirds of its sales to come from consumer services, with an emphasis on tourism, entertainment, and sports. Those three sectors happen to be the three main drivers of China’s transition into a consumer-led economy, and the government has declared that expanding them is a priority.
