Sims 3
With Sims 3 Seasons, Holidays were introduced for each season available. In the fall season, Sims celebrate Spooky Day, that is probably based on Halloween. Also a fall festival will be present in your town, usually in one of the big parks, where you can do activities like: bobbing for apples, you can enter pie eating contests, Your Sim can also visit the Haunted House.

Sims can carve a pumpkin. There are several shapes to choose from. Sims will carve the pumpkin sitting down on the floor. The pumpkin will be placed on a newspaper. After they're finished, Sims can light it, or stomp on it.

Children and teens can go trick or treating, but first change them into one of the costumes available. you can go alone or with someone. If there is someone home, Sims may give the Sim a piece of candy. you can find it in their inventory. Sims can visit up to 10 houses while trick or treating. Children and teens can go trick or treating on Spooky day, or the day before.
Meanspirited, Evil and Inappropriate Sims may throw eggs and vandalize houses during Trick or Treat.

Sims can also throw a costume party or be invited to one by a friend. So your guests will arrive dressed in costumes. A lot of Hot Dogs this year. Unfortunately, your Sim will change automatically and you can't change their costume. Depending on your Seasons, Spooky day often falls on full moon. If you have Supernatural, expect Zombies to roam the streets.

Sims 4
In The Sims 4, there isn't a pre made Halloween/Spooky day holiday. But you can definitely create one. There are seven themes to choose from for a holiday. So you can choose Spooky for a holiday that perfectly fits the theme. And you can have up to five traditions for celebrating the holiday.
With The Sims 4: Spooky Stuff came a carving pumpkin station. and you can carve variety of shapes depending on your handiness skill. After your Sim is finished carving, you can then preserve the pumpkin, light a candle inside, or stomp on them. There are also three spooky inspired meals you can cook.

On Halloween, usually after 5pm, you'll notice more Sims wearing costumes. Kids will come to your door for "trick or treat" wearing costumes. Unlike the Sims 3, you can't go trick or treating. You can then trick them by scaring them, or treat them by giving them candy. After that they'll just disappear. Teenagers can also go treat or treating.

If you put the bowl of candy that came with Sims 4: Spooky Stuff, inside the house, trick or treaters won't knock on your door, but will bolt inside your house and go straight where the candy bowl is, treat themselves and then leave. If you don't want random Sims coming inside your house, you can put the candy bowl outside. Trick or treaters will take candy and leave.

With Spooky Stuff came the option to throw a Spooky Party. You can choose a costume that your Sim will wear at the party. Guests will start arriving dressed in costumes. You'll have the options to talk about costumes, carve pumpkins, you can trick Sims and dance to spooky music
