This game saw yet another port a few months ago on modern systems. Mostly known for its bad taste cut scenes, there’s still a shmup to be played here. This is the Saturn port, which does not add anything to the table to my knowledge. In fact, this port is supposed to be slightly more censored than the PC Engine version. But it adds a neat Saturn Mode that skips every cut scene by default. So what about the game itself? Well it looks OK, and even though I can be confusing at first, such as during the very first stage (not a good sign!), some backgrounds and key enemies or bosses have a nice design. The soundtrack is fitting but nothing special in my opinion. The gameplay itself is kind of great, giving the player a ton of power ups that can then be stored as bombs. The tracking additional pods are pretty cool to see in action for instance ! The problem here is that nothing stands out. Everything is average and it really feels like the game could have been polished a bit more, and could have been legendary for other reasons …
