This is Part 1 of a planned 3-Part series which I'm looking forward to creating.
There's so many amazing produced tracks out there at the moment. I want to be able to support all these artists so this is hopefully in some small way a chance to showcase their talents. I do sincerely apologise in advance for butchering any of them with my entry level DJ skills 😶‍🌫️

Inspiration
This mix is deeply personal. On a recent trip back to my hometown of Melbourne, I caught up with mates some who I hadn’t seen in decades. Hard to believe the years have vanished in an instant; we picked up right where we left off. That’s what true friendships are about: time passes, but the connection never fades. I hope to make it back there soon, but at the very least plan an annual pilgrimage to let loose and enjoy the limited time we all have these days. Who we choose and where we choose to spend our time with, matters more than almost anything else we do; it can spark the action we needed to take, but have hesitated on without these people in our lives.
To these people in my life, thank you for not giving up on me and for pushing me in your own unique ways to be the best I can.

A Note on the Mix
I’m an absolute beginner behind the decks—so if you hear rough edges and lame transitions that’s why. Eh… This isn’t about perfection, it’s about finally doing something I’ve wanted to do for a long, long time, but I kept coming up with convincing reasons why I shouldn’t. Funk all that.

Trance events have always been a release for me and I know this to be true for everyone you go there with or meet at these events. The crowd vibes and the energy. You have to experience it firsthand. Otherwise it’s akin to trying to explain to someone what the colour red taste like. I feel fortunate to have experienced the mid to late 90s early 00s trance movement.

While the opportunities to get along to events these days are fewer and further between, I want to share a combination of the inspiration from two incredible artists from the last two events I’ve been able to make it to.

@JOOFrecordings who absolutely blew my mind in Jan 2024 over in Sydney Australia, after the event was almost cancelled due to the promoter who couldn’t organise a p1ss up at a brewery, and of course the one and only @PaulvanDyk who was simply phenomenal in Aug 2025 at Reminisce in Melbourne, Australia.

This mix is about exploring the soundscapes inspired by John 00 Fleming’s “Raw / Deep / Hypnotic Trance” vision, with touches of Paul van Dyk’s influence.

I've titled it Prog-Hypnotic-Trance in an effort to attempt to reflect the tracks that I've selected.
