In this video, I described The Fertility Symbolism, characteristics of Magar Shamanic stools. I show how these fertility symbols relate to the balance of male and female energy and the fertility of nature as a foundation of Magar Shamanism. The Magar people are originally of Tibetian origin and practice Shamanism, Buddism, bon, and Hinduism. They are semi neumatic and travel, with their herds across Nepal from Tibet into India. These Shamanic stools are designed to travel with and so are relatively light and low to the ground. They represent the powerful, protective naga spirits of earth and water, fertility, growth, and abundance. The Shamen figures are often depicted in prayer with erect penises or women giving birth or holding babies with open vaginas. They are surrounded and protected by the naga that also represents the vital psychic energy of the chakras and the purity and abundance of the earth. These symbols are reinforced and amplified by other symbols with similar meanings with a flower of life for growth and abundance, fish for fertility and the feminine, the ram for fertility and primal power. These images occur throughout Himalayan shamanism and are supported by male and female Alta figures which are often giving birth, meditating and copulating. Flower of life designs also occurs on the wooden hosters for shamanic and domestic sickles used in agriculture and gathering herbal medicines. I particularly enjoy the creative process of connecting the ritual and ceremonial life of shamen from east and west. It's beautiful and satisfying to see these ancient, traditional and magical tools enriching the lives and healing practices of shamen from both traditional and modern cultures.
