indieVelo - Sunday Medio Fondo - Session 3

The Sunday Medio Fondo is a way to both build strength and friendship with other indieVelo riders. You can do the Medio Fondo as a race or as a ride. The field size will be around 150–200 so there will be plenty of small groups to follow and ride with. There will be different courses each week. Some flat, some more hilly. We use Tier 1 (you must use a Smart Trainer, a heart rate monitor and register cadence) and riders that are flagged by the performance verification system will automatically removed (if so please send your .fit-file to George Gilbert for analysis and suggestions of how to avoid this in the future). The fastest riders can expect a finish time between 1:45-2:30.

4:30 - The race begins
7:30 - A lead pack of 16 riders gets a small gap around South Lake Loop
13:45 - The first split road pass
16:45 - Down to 10 riders in the front group after the split road
23:45 - The front group hits the first climb with a small gap
27:45 - Chase group 1 catches the lead group on the first climb
31:45 - Matthew attacks on the climb with his teammate Zeb and Jan. They get a small gap.
37:30 - Matthew, Zeb, and Jan have an 11 second gap over the crest of the first climb
42:30 - The front group is now 13 with 48.8 km left to race
48:00 - The second pass of the split road
50:30 - Top ranked bot Lenny attacks the front group
51:45 - The front group is now top ranked Lenny with Matthew, Zeb, Jan, and Rob
56:30 - The five of us start climb number 2 with a small gap on the chase
1:00:00 - Mahdi bridges from the first chase group. Matthew, Zeb, and Jan follow
1:00:03 - Back together with 6 in the front group still on the second climb
1:10:00 - We crest the second climb with a 36 second gap to the first chase group
1:20:00 - The last pass of the split road where we gap climber bot Mahdi
1:28:45 - Lenny attacks before the last climb leaving Rob behind. The camera follows the leaders.
1:40:30 - Matthew attacks on the climb. Jan covers.
1:43:20 - Matthew and Jan crest the third climb with a 23 second gap and 6.7 km left to race
1:48:20 - Zeb has a go at bridging up
1:49:50 - Matthew and Jan battle for the win with 1500 meters left to race
