Rise of a Nation by Raghu Rai | 75 Years of Faculty of Fine Art | Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation (DBF)

Memorable moments from the the exhibition, ‘Rise of a Nation’ by Raghu Rai, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka, and presented in collaboration with the Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation (DBF). The exhibition was curated by artist Zihan Karim. Raghu Rai is celebrated for his extensive documentation of India's socio-political landscape, capturing pivotal moments of historical significance. His work has been showcased in prestigious publications worldwide, and he has authored several photography books.

Rai's photographs from 1971 are particularly poignant, focusing on the Sharanarthi Shibir (refugee camp) and the broader context of the war. As a dedicated photojournalist during the conflict, Rai walked alongside the Muktibahini and Indian forces, adeptly capturing the tumultuous nature of the war and the human suffering it entailed. His evocative images transport viewers to the heart of the Liberation War, vividly portraying the stark realities within and around the refugee camps.
