In 2024, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) celebrates two decades of leadership in environmental conservation and sustainable development across Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

IUCN has been present in the region since 2004 when the IUCN Programme Office for South-Eastern Europe was established in Belgrade, Serbia upon the invitation of its Member organisation, the Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia. In 2015 this office grew to a regional one, and the team was tasked with the responsibility and opportunity to work in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, a region rich in cultural diversity, traditions, languages, and extraordinary natural values.

This video highlights some of the achievements of IUCN in Eastern Europe and Central Asia over the past 20 years, inviting the national authorities, civil society, experts, and the youth to join forces and continue building sustainable future in the region together!
