Описание к видео What language did Jesus speak?

Jesus primarily spoke Aramaic, which was the common language of the people in Galilee and Judea during the first century AD. Aramaic is a Semitic language closely related to Hebrew and was widely used in the everyday life and conversation of Jewish communities in that region. Many of the expressions and some phrases attributed to Jesus in the Gospels are preserved in Aramaic, indicating its use in His teaching and everyday conversation.

Other Languages Jesus Might Have Known:

Hebrew: While Aramaic was the language of daily life, Hebrew remained the language of religion and scripture. It was used in the synagogues and for reading the Jewish scriptures (what Christians refer to as the Old Testament). Jesus, being a Jew who often quoted from the Hebrew Scriptures and participated in synagogue services, would have had knowledge of Hebrew. Instances in the Gospels where Jesus reads from Isaiah in the synagogue (e.g., Luke 4:16-21) suggest His familiarity with Hebrew.
Greek: Greek was the lingua franca of the eastern Mediterranean and the wider Roman Empire, used widely in commerce, governance, and literature. Given the geographical location of Galilee, near major trade routes and Greek-speaking cities like Sepphoris and Tiberias, it is plausible that Jesus had some understanding of Greek. This would have been beneficial for interactions with non-Jewish populations and Roman authorities. However, the New Testament does not explicitly state that Jesus used Greek in His teachings.

Latin: Latin was the official language of the Roman administration. While less commonly spoken among the general populace in Judea and Galilee compared to Greek, it was still present due to the Roman governance. It's less likely that Jesus was proficient in Latin, but He might have had a rudimentary understanding, enough to comprehend some aspects of Roman administration and military commands.

The multilingual abilities of Jesus would have been part of His cultural environment, which was more linguistically diverse than often assumed. His primary use of Aramaic, coupled with likely knowledge of Hebrew and some familiarity with Greek, would have enabled Him to reach a broad range of people in His teachings and ministry.
