Do-It-Yourself description how I made a canopy for my Depron scratchbuild Spitfire MK XVI. Most of the later Spitfires versions had a "bubble-style" canopy for better rear view. Some say, these are actually the most beautiful WWII fighters of all time.
I made this canopy out of PET-G, which is a very easy material for vacuum forming. Much easier to form than Polycarbonate (Lexan), but also less robust.
But since I built this Spitfire out of Depron, I do not care about the canopy robustness, as the Depron would be destroyed anyhow in case of a severe impact...
