Has anyone ever promised you something and then let you down?

Maybe it was free tickets to a game?

Or, maybe it was the promise of a new job that never came through?

Or how about this one, they promised to come over and help you move but, “Something came up,” and they never made it.

It’s hard sometimes in life to not become jaded when you have been promised something, by someone, only to be let down, isn’t it?

Truth is…a promise is only as good as the one who makes it!

That is why when we reflect on Romans 8:28, you can rest assured that God can and will keep His promise to you. Now, there is a caveat. According to Romans 8:28 this promise is only for those who are actually children of God.

There is a difference between being created by God and being a child of God.

All are created by God, but only those who have come to the place where they have responded to God’s call of salvation—placing their faith in Jesus’ finished work on Calvary’s cross, are children of God.

But you can absolutely rest assured that the One who spoke the stars into existence, and fashioned man from the dust of the ground, can and will keep His promise to you!

So, what exactly is God’s promise?

That in His sovereignty, God will take all the hurts, hang-ups, and heartaches, and weave them into a tapestry that is both for our good and ultimately for His glory!

God takes both the blessings and the trials and turns them into something good!

It’s a beautiful thing to watch God at work...but sometimes it’s confusing and hard to understand.

But you can rest assured that God is in control. God is on the throne, and God is busy making a masterpiece out of your mess.
