I've always enjoyed this game, its AI is pretty decent and it's an early example of a 2 player local coop survival horror game. Hard mode's pretty tough due to having very limited resources and sneakily hiding the first gun from the player, but there's still a lot you can do to make it manageable if you know the route. And you're kind of expected to, as Hard is only available after beating the game.

Stan is the only character with no combat related bonus. His ability isn't even relevant in the last half of the game where there are few if any locks to pick. Everyone else gets various useful abilities: Ashley is way more powerful, making her super ammo efficient, Josh has a higher running speed than anyone else, Shannon can heal more with medkits, and Kevin's got that sprint.

I'm pretty good at this game I think so I figured I'd show off a playthrough. Aside from messing around in the administration office repeatedly because I was convinced I missed some shotgun shells, I don't think this went too badly.

After playing this I did some more testing, turns out Light Grenades are only mostly useless on the final boss, who merely staggers briefly from them. Queens can be killed in 2 Light Grenades, and they can't block the blast with their arm, so saving the 4 you get to kill the last 2 queens is a potential speedrun strategy as you get 2 grenades before each queen appears aside from the first one.
