TTT #5 Protecting Steel Surface with Beeswax and BLO

Описание к видео TTT #5 Protecting Steel Surface with Beeswax and BLO

Tool Tip Tuesday Episode #5
In this 2 feature video I cover the idea of protecting a welding table from rust by coating with Beeswax. The process yields leftover beeswax that while not clean enough for projects; perfect for shop tools and metal surfaces.
I showcase my method for turning Beeswax and Boiled Linseed Oil into a viable form of protection.

The boiled linseed used is the readily available brand from Kleen-Strip which is by no means what so ever a food safe finish; or even hand safe for that matter so gloves should be worn at all times.

The beeswax used was purchased at the store Hobby Lobby in a 1 pound block.

Even with the heating process there appears to still remain driers within the BLO as once applied the finish becomes very hard. Much harder than expected which made it difficult to determine the perfect ratio.

The final ratio guess was a 1 : 1 ratio. I did not measure as accurately as I should have to get repeatable results.
