Consider us jaded; callous; and generally wise to the marketing hype game of whiskey. So, when we went to a tasting dinner a while back for Horse Soldier bourbon and the marketing revolved around an incredible story and real deal national heroes, we were suspect. Turns out, we were just ignorant. Now, while that story is something you should definitely read up on (or watch the movie 12 Strong), we just don't want you to make our mistake. This isn't marketing bs. And luckily, the bourbon isn't either. Extra hot on both proof and spice, the whole line up of Horse Soldier whiskey is unique. There's a grassy quality to the reserve and settles into a black walnut-like bitterant. Rich in leather notes, this isn't the bottle to reach for if you're looking for a smooth, sweet whiskey. The Horse Soldier Reserve will put hair on your chest in the most delicious way possible. Cheers!
