Sequential visual stories go back to Egyptian Hieroglyphics, but in Europe, there is a picture storybook format that begins in the 1800s that we can call comics, and it’s important to trace how they influenced the form and foundational structure of today’s comic book storytelling and legal decisions. What techniques led up to and then later started and cemented the Platinum Age of Comics.
