The IRS is reminding taxpayers who failed to file their Form 1040 for the 2021 tax year that they may still be entitled to their $1,400 recovery rebate credit.

In general, taxpayers had to file a Form 1040 for 2021 to receive this credit. Many taxpayers failed to file their Form 1040 for 2021, which means they did not receive a stimulus check.

If a taxpayer has yet to file their 2021 tax return, they still have time to file on or before April 15, 2025, in order to claim the rebate. The deadline falls within the general 3 year statute of limitations for a refund claim.
