🚨 Ludhiana Elevated Bridge Accident | Wheat Sacks Fall at Bharat Nagar Chowk

Panic broke out at Bharat Nagar Chowk, one of the busiest areas in Ludhiana, after heavy wheat sacks suddenly fell from an elevated bridge under construction. The shocking incident left two cars badly damaged and caused chaos in the market area.

🔴 50-kg Wheat Sacks Crushed Cars

According to local shopkeepers, an overloaded truck passing over the elevated bridge suddenly started dropping wheat sacks onto the road below. Each sack reportedly weighed around 50 kilograms. Due to the height of the bridge, the impact was so severe that:

The roofs of a Swift and a Honda City were completely crushed.

Car doors were bent and damaged.

A motorcycle parked outside a shop was also hit.

Nearby shop boards and awnings were destroyed.

A shopkeeper present at the scene said he heard a loud crashing sound before realizing that wheat sacks were falling from above. Fortunately, no pedestrians were directly under the falling load at that moment — otherwise, the consequences could have been tragic.

🚑 Drivers Narrowly Escape Death

Both cars had drivers inside when the sacks fell directly on top of them. Passersby rushed to help and safely pulled the injured drivers out of the crushed vehicles. They were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital and are currently reported to be out of danger, though they suffered serious injuries.

🚓 Police Investigation Underway

Police have launched an investigation into:

How an overloaded truck was allowed on the elevated bridge.

Whether the truck’s tarpaulin or ropes were loose.

Possible negligence by the driver or transport company.

Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area to determine accountability.
