Most of Illium's damage comes from Wings of Glory and Illium's ability to fly while using it makes it a very good class against Damien. This allows Illium to hit Damien while he's dropping balls from the ceiling and more importantly, ignore blue balls in phase 2. Therefore Illium is able to solo this boss with worse stats/gear than other classes would require because it ignores so many mechanics that reduce your damage window against Damien.
