Catacomb 3D Adventures is a trilogy of DOS dungeon crawler/early FPS/proto-Wolf3D games consisting of Catacomb Abyss, Catacomb Armageddon and Catacomb Apocalypse.
A number of years has passed since your victory over the Evil Lich Nemesis at the end of Catacomb Abyss. Peace was restored to the lands... or so everybody thought until one day a dark army struck from the depths of the Underworld. The Evil Lich amassed more minions and turned to even darker magic somewhere in the Lost City. He was always one step ahead and what you truly defeated back then was just one of his numerous (but inferior) Nemesis Clones. The High Council of Magic decided your mastery over the Magic Missile must be utilized again and thus you venture forth to find the Lost City and hopefully destroy Nemesis, the REAL Nemesis, for good this time...

The game offers much of the same as its predecessor and the overall gameplay received only very slight quirks and additions. The immediate point being a few maps that require a little strategic thinking to beat.

MAP 2 features particularly annoying enemies, Treants, that leave burning corpses behind and force you into killing them in safer spots since otherwise you take damage every time you walk close by them.

For enemies that have a state when they cannot be harmed or a state from which they "wake up" (hidden Zombies, hanging Skeletons, Viper statues etc.) a delay to their spawn is set when their spawn tile is uncovered. This delay is randomized (in a range) and if you are unlucky, it can take a while like with the Viper statue JUST near the exit of MAP 5.
