A total of 12 hours spent recording, 800+ takes, and 26 hours of not sleeping just to record this. It's finally here! I've endured so much for this cover... My Facebook Followers will know... Check out my Facebook page to know what happened.

It all started back last Saturday. I caught up with Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso till the latest episode, and was so mesmerized by the anime.

The ED2 was so freaking beautiful I couldn't resist. And seeing that TehIshter announced he wanted to cover a full version of this, I thought: "Omg.. To show my dedication to this super good anime, I'm gonna cover a full version as well!!" TehIshter uploads every Friday, I was wondering if I would be able to arrange and practice a full version in 6 days.. Usually I would take 3 weeks for the whole process for full versions.

I took up the challenge, and started arranging. I wasn't quite ready, I wasn't familiar with the chords, but I started recording on Friday, because I thought it would be so cool to see 2 Shigatsu ED2 Full versions on your Youtube Subscriptions Feed. I failed within the first 30mins from exhaustion from celebrating Chinese New Year that day.

The next day, TehIshter uploaded his version. Immediately after watching his cover, I felt so pumped to record. From 10pm to 4am, a total of 6 hours sitting on the piano, I've tried, but I failed over and over. My solo covers recording sessions had never gone above 6 hours. On average, 1 hour to 3 hours. A series of events took place, and I ended up shortening the full version a little, and also spending a lot of effort to record this. I've finally succeeded, albeit a few mistakes which I couldn't help but make.

People commented "Why would you push yourself so hard? Just sleep, and record later!" Yes. Now you guys know, I'm just this stubborn :D The thing is, the temptation to finish it(this cover) up grows higher the longer I record. So I kept pushing myself. And I knew that people were looking forward to my cover too.

From this experience, my longest recording session so far, that I really pondered on why am I doing this.. The more I play the more smoother I get, and the more smoother I get, the more enjoyment I get. Feeling so exhausted, I couldn't find the energy to lift up my arms when I lie back on the sofa. However, look at this cover I did, it's the excitement and adrenaline I got from the song that's giving me the energy.

Now after finishing this cover, I feel super accomplished. I feel like my efforts had been worth, because I also feel like I improved. In Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso latest episodes, a similar situation where a performer was asking, "Why am I practicing so hard?" And the answer is all for that moment after she performs, and gets that lasting applause from the audience. Similarly, I'm doing so much just for my Youtube audience, you guys :) To share my music.

However, don't follow my footsteps because I chose the hard way by recording so many times at one go... ^_^"

Anyway, if you have passion in something, don't be afraid to challenge yourself. Because by stepping out of your comfort zone, then can you improve :) The skills I demonstrated in this cover didn't just come out of nowhere, I put in effort for it.

I'm taking a break from the piano for a while. I'm really saturated from the many hours spent on the piano this week..
