This is a divot which is a steel piece of the Titanic hull that was punched out in order for another section of steel hull to be attached…the hole left a place for a rivet to fix the sections together. These pieces of Titanic steel were scattered on the floor of the workshops and collected by the men in the shipyard either during the manufacture of the Titanic, or just after the ship sunk. They were then engraved and decorated as mementos or to be sold to tourists in Belfast who would visit the site where the ship was made.
