Unboxing and test of Ferrex 46cm Petrol Lawn Mower from Aldi.
The price was very, very competitive & the fact it comes with a Briggs & Stratton engine, was a BIG selling point, as some with a price tag £50+ above this come with a non brand engine.
Just to check the engine is on a par with virtually every other brand mower this size.
Driven, yes this is self propelled too, I know I have a small lawn but that’s not to say it will stay that way.
So why petrol….. well I looked into electric mains and battery, up until this point I had been using a Flymo & avoiding the cord was a constant pain. Now Aldi (at time of publishing) are doing a comparable mains electric mower for £40 lass than I paid, but again you are tied to a cord & other brands are about the same price as I paid for the petrol. Battery, yes all up for that & I really was looking at these but add another £150+ for anything even remotely decent.
Is it any good? Well YES, well built & with a brand engine & the bang for your pound was superb.
Didn’t it struggle cutting the grass? Yes I did stall it, but the grass was some 6” in that area and any mower this size would struggle with the height setting I was using (No.2 about 1 ½”).
Would I recommend it? Have you been reading!!!
