The South African Weather Services has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms and heavy downpours over some parts of the country.
Localised flooding, strong winds and large amounts of hail, have been forecast for Gauteng, Highveld and escarpment of Mpumalanga, south-western parts of Limpopo, eastern parts of Free State and North-West, as well as the north-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal. As the country gets ready to celebrate Christmas, Emergency Services warn of wet and slippery roads. This warning comes as mop-up operations are under way in areas along the south coast after flash floods left a trail of destruction, claiming the lives of four people. One person, who was washed away while trying to cross a flooded river in Amanzimtoti, is still missing.
