In 1993, working with the YMCA, Todd became Director of the Central City Housing Initiative, where he helped buy, rehab, and sell vacant homes to first time homeowners in the Lindsay Heights neighborhood.
After the YMCA’s two year program ended he moved to the community development arm of First Wisconsin Bank — later Firstar and US Bank — where he spearheaded the construction of King Heights, a mixed-use, mixed-income development, including an iconic statue of Martin Luther King. This development brought together his strengths in architecture, construction management, and finance into a single project. This hybrid role was emblematic of his career moving forward.
In 2001, he started Wisconsin Redevelopment with respected developer and MSOE professor Bob Lemke and in 2008, Todd began consulting with Impact Seven, one of Wisconsin’s largest community development corporations, to bring their work to Milwaukee.
Working in partnership on ambitious projects, Todd has built an incredible track record across Milwaukee, working on projects that include 600 units of housing, over $400 million dollars of investment, and over three quarters of a billion dollars of development in the city of Milwaukee.
Working with Firstar Bank, he was amongst the first to develop condos in the Third Ward and has been instrumental in the development of other signature projects throughout the city of Milwaukee including all of the King Drive Commons developments, Johnson Park Lofts, Silver City Townhomes, Mitchell Street Market Lofts, LBWN Rent-to-Own Homes, and National Avenue Lofts. These developments provide spacious, high quality housing for residents in all areas of the city.
Todd has also been a trusted consultant on housing and development with groups throughout Milwaukee, including the Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation, Layton Boulevard West Neighbors, North Avenue CDC, New Covenant Housing, LISC, Impact Seven and others.
