And I can see trans acceptance lowering day by day, and it's really worrying for me, and as someone who's part of the queer community I just want to speak out against homophobia and transphobia."

STORYLINE:
The Netherlands' LGBTQ union organized a protest on Tuesday against the participation of the leaders of the U.S. and Hungary in this week's NATO summit.

Donald Trump and Viktor Orbán's governments have both introduced policies that limit the rights of gay and transgender people.

The Hungarian government has argued its policies to bar the availability of LGBTQ+ content to minors under 18 and effectively ban the popular Budapest Pride event, seek to protect children from what it calls “sexual propaganda.”

Meanwhile, Trump made anti-transgender attacks a central plank of his campaign reelection message as he called on Congress to pass a bill stating there are “only two genders” and pledged to ban hormonal and surgical intervention for transgender minors.

He signed an executive order doing so in January, and has also banned transgender people from serving in the U.S. military.

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered at The Hague to show solidarity with the LGBTQ community, under the motto “making noise for love.”
