Nicolás Maduro Guerra, son of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and a PSUV deputy, has launched a global diplomatic push to secure his father’s release after the Venezuelan leader was captured by U.S. forces during a January 3 operation. Speaking at a jurists’ meeting in Caracas, Maduro Guerra proposed a consensus document denouncing what he called an “aggression and kidnapping” and urged allies to take it to international bodies and parliaments worldwide. He also called for commissions to support freeing both Maduro and his wife, framing his father as a global symbol of resistance and claiming international law is “agonising.”
