As a German, I’ve always heard about the 4th of July – America’s Independence Day. I always knew it's a legendary big celebration day but never really understood how big it actually is. So, this is my reaction to the celebrations of July 4th.

In Germany we also have a national holiday (October 3rd – German Unity Day - Tag der deutschen Einheit), but there is hardly any big celebration - if at all. There are celebrations in Berlin and a general event in the capital of one the 16 german states (it changes every year). But in many German cities you won't see a special event on this day. Most people at least have the day off.
