Washington, DC: The October2011.org Movement was inspired in part by the revolt in Egypt. October2011.org is currently occupying Freedom Plaza and will hear from the Egyptian Revolutionaries today at 4:00 PM on Sunday at Freedom Plaza.

A Statement of Solidarity between Egyptian Revolutionaries and the October2011.org Movement was published before the Freedom Plaza occupation began on October 6. When October2011.org went public in June its OPEN LETTER: THE U.S. OCTOBER 2011 MOVEMENT STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH OUR GLOBAL ALLIES was published in Al Jazeera.

Egyptian Participants include:

Esraa Abdelfatah- created the April 6th Facebook page which was the main organizing tool for the first general strike in 2007. She was the first woman to be jailed under the Egyptian emergency laws for her online activism amking her one of the best known social media activists and gaining her notoriety in the egyptian public as the "facebook girl". Co-founder of the Egyptian Democracy Academy and active in the revolution, Esraa was recently shortlisted - along w April 6th - as a finalist for the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize.

Ahmed Maher- Co-founder and current leader of the April 6th the social movement associated with the first general strike in Egypt in 2007. Ahmed has been at the forefront of the Egyptian opposition for the last six years and was a main grassroots organizer during the January 25th Revolution. Due to his work and others - April 6th was declared a finalist for the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize.

Asmaa Mahfouz - well known blogger and co-founder of the April 6th Movement

Waleed Rashed - member of the first opposition coalition Kefeya in 2005 and current coordinator of the National Association for Change- a coalition of opposition groups

Zahraa Said - opposition symbol/leader and sister of Khalid Said whose murder by Egyptian police eventually sparked the revolution

Bassem Fathy - well known opposition leader and co-founder of the Egyptian Democracy Academy - current director of Freedom House's Egypt office.
